Privacy statement
Last updated: October 2026
This privacy statement explains which personal data I collect when you visit this website or get in touch with me, what I use it for and what your rights are. I collect no more than I need.
Who I am
truck8.dev is a trade name of Tom Mekenkamp, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) that also trades as truck8.ai. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 97413402, based in Oudenbosch, the Netherlands. I am responsible for the processing of personal data through this website.
Do you have a question about privacy? Email hello@truck8.ai.
What data I collect
I only collect data that you give me yourself, plus some technical data that is needed to make the website work.
Contact form
When you fill in the contact form, I receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you fill it in
- The name of your company
- The package you choose
- The address of your current website, if you fill it in
- Your message
Email and appointments
If you email me directly, I receive the data you share in your email.
If you book an appointment through Calendly, you give data such as your name and email address to Calendly. I receive it to prepare for the appointment.
Website visits
When you visit the website, my hosting party processes technical data, such as your IP address. You can read more about this below under Hosting and statistics.
What I use your data for
I only use the data from the contact form to answer your question and to prepare a quote for you. If you become a client, I also use your data to carry out the assignment and to invoice.
I do not add you to a mailing list and I do not send you unsolicited marketing emails.
I do not make decisions about you that are based solely on automated processing.
The legal basis for processing
Under the GDPR, the European privacy law, I need a legal basis to process your data. I use these grounds:
- Answering your question and preparing a quote: this is needed to prepare an agreement at your request
- Carrying out an assignment: this is needed for the agreement with you
- Keeping my records: this is a legal obligation
- Securing the website and keeping statistics: this is my legitimate interest in a safe and well-functioning website
The contact form
Your message is sent as an email to my mailbox. I use Resend to send it, with servers in the EU. Email to hello@truck8.ai reaches my mailbox at Google through Cloudflare.
You do not receive an automatic email in return. I reply myself, as soon as possible.
Hosting and statistics
This website runs on Vercel. Vercel records IP addresses in log files for a short period, to secure the website and prevent abuse.
For statistics I use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. They work without cookies and only show totals, such as the number of visits per page and how fast pages load. They do not track you across other websites. I cannot see who you are from these statistics.
Cookies
This website only uses functional cookies, for example to remember your language choice. I do not use marketing or tracking cookies. That is why you do not see a cookie banner.
If you book an appointment through Calendly, Calendly may place its own cookies. Calendly's cookie and privacy policy applies to those.
Who I share data with
I never sell your data. I only share it with service providers I need for this website and my work, or when the law requires me to.
Some of these service providers are American companies. If data is processed outside the EU, this happens with the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
I work with these service providers:
- Vercel: hosting and statistics for this website
- Resend: sending messages from the contact form
- Cloudflare: forwarding email to my mailbox
- Google: my mailbox
- Calendly: booking appointments, with its own privacy policy
How long I keep data
If you do not become a client, I keep your data as long as needed for our contact, and no longer than 2 years.
If you become a client, I keep your data as long as needed for the assignment. Data in my financial records, such as invoices, I keep for 7 years. That is a tax obligation.
Hosting log files are deleted automatically after a short period.
If you want me to delete your data sooner, let me know. I will do so, unless the law requires me to keep it.
Security
I protect your data with appropriate measures, including:
- The website only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS)
- The contact form has spam protection that works without tracking
- Only I have access to the mailbox and systems that hold your data, secured with strong passwords and two-factor authentication
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights over your own data. If you want to use one of these rights, email hello@truck8.ai. I will respond within one month. Sometimes I first ask you to confirm who you are, so that I do not give data to the wrong person.
If you are not satisfied with how I handle your data, let me know. You may also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
You have these rights:
- Access: you may know which data I hold about you
- Rectification: you may have incorrect data corrected
- Erasure: you may ask me to delete your data
- Restriction: you may ask me to temporarily restrict the use of your data
- Objection: you may object to the use of your data
- Portability: you may request your data in a common file format, to pass it on to someone else
Websites I build for clients
This privacy statement is about truck8.dev. If I build or manage a website for a client, that client is responsible for the data of its visitors. I then process that data on behalf of the client. For that, read the privacy statement on the client's website.
Changes
I may change this privacy statement, for example when my website or the services I use change. The latest version is always on this page, with the date of the last change.
