A newsletter on your website, done properly
A newsletter on your website keeps you in touch with people who are interested in your work. Visitors sign up on your site and confirm by email. They can unsubscribe at any time with one click, and you send your newsletters straight from your own site.
What you get
- A sign-up form on your site, with spam protection
- Double opt-in through an email with a confirmation link
- A one-click unsubscribe link in every newsletter
- An overview of your subscribers
- Writing and sending newsletters from your own site
- The link with a newsletter service that delivers your emails reliably
- The DNS settings, so your newsletter comes from your own domain
Not included
- The sending costs of the newsletter service. They are in the quote up front and are not covered by Hosting or Care.
- Writing your newsletters. You provide the content.
- Sending through your regular mailbox. A business mailbox is not meant for newsletters.
- Automated email sequences and advanced marketing features, like those in large email marketing packages.
Exactly what is and is not included is set out in the terms.
Who it's for
Consultants and trainers
You write articles or run workshops and want interested people to know when there's something new.
Networks and associations
You want to keep members and followers up to date on meetings and news.
Small businesses
You want to let regular customers know about something now and then, without loose lists in Excel.
How a newsletter on your website works
Your site gets a simple sign-up form, for example at the bottom of every page. Someone enters their email address and receives an email with a confirmation link. Only after that click are they on your list. This is called double opt-in. It tells you the address is real, and nobody can sign up someone else.
You write a newsletter and send it from your own site. The sending itself goes through a newsletter service: an external company that reliably delivers lots of emails at once. I set up the DNS (the technical settings of your domain name) so your newsletter comes from your own domain.
Every newsletter ends with an unsubscribe link. One click and someone is off the list, without logging in. Large email services such as Gmail expect that too.
GDPR-friendly from the start
The GDPR is the European privacy law. For a newsletter you generally need consent, and double opt-in shows that someone gave it. You only ask for what you need: an email address, and a name if you like.
The addresses are personal data. You are responsible for them and I process them on your behalf, under my data processing agreement. In the privacy statement on your site you explain what you do with that data.
What it costs, including after launch
The newsletter costs €295 one-off, excl. VAT. You pay half at the start and half at delivery, just like a website.
On top of that, the newsletter service charges sending costs. They depend on the number of subscribers and how often you send. I put them in the quote up front. These running costs are not covered by Hosting or Care.
Why not use your own mailbox? A regular mailbox isn't built to send lots of emails at once, and your emails are then more likely to end up in spam. That's why a business mailbox from me is meant for normal business email, not newsletters.
With any package, now or later
The newsletter works with every package: Starter, Business and Business Plus. Include it straight away or add it later, even once your site is live. All packages and add-ons are on the pricing page.
With Business Plus, the newsletter sits in the same content editor as your texts and articles. Handy if you write regularly.

Frequently asked questions
What does a newsletter on my website cost?
€295 one-off, excl. VAT. On top of that you pay sending costs to the newsletter service. They depend on the number of subscribers and how often you send, and are in the quote up front.
Do I need Business Plus?
No. The newsletter works with every package. With Business Plus it does sit in the same content editor as your texts and articles.
Can I send my newsletter from my regular mailbox?
Better not. A regular mailbox is made for normal email, not for lots of emails at once. Your newsletter is then more likely to land in spam.
I already have a list of addresses. Can I use it?
Yes, as long as you're allowed to email those people, for example because they signed up themselves before. I include moving the list in the quote.
Can I add the newsletter later?
Yes. Like every add-on, you can include the newsletter straight away or add it later, even once your site is live.
